Saturday
Saturday’s topics will set a foundation for the reactivity and aggression topics being held on Sunday.
If you can only attend one day this weekend it is recommended that you attend on Saturday.
Topics covered on Saturday will include:
¨ Foundation skill set for reactivity – the training tools every trainer who works with reactive dogs should have in their tool box.
¨ Canine body language – being able to accurately interpret body language is essential for any trainer.
¨ Technical reason things go wrong – learn why you get training errors and better identify how to train better in the future.
¨ Handling aroused animals and working with them when they are aroused.
Sunday
Reactivity & Aggression
The topics for Sunday will be geared towards assisting dog professionals in recognizing developing aggression and fear responses in dogs, specifically relating to reactivity.
Attendees are strongly encouraged to attend Saturday’s session since that information is vital to Sunday’s session. Attendees who register for Sunday only will not be allowed to ask Brenda to review material covered on Saturday.
Subjects will include general and specific discussions on reactivity, environmental and situational awareness for trainers, assessing individual dog threshold levels, teaching people how to have good mechanical skills and to control their own emotional state in order to properly influence the dog. Also emphasizing addressing the emotional state of the dog and its importance to the training process. Discussion on which “traditional” methods are not recommended.
