  Description of Seminar/Conference

This intensive two day experience will consist of lectures, discussions, and hands-on learning activities to help you practice and learn more about the concepts discussed. Lectures and activities will include topics such as errorless learning, creativity, the intersection of training and animal welfare, treating fear and aggression in dogs (and other animals), and advanced reinforcement concepts. PORTL is a game played with a collection of small objects and a clicker. The teacher communicates with the learner entirely through reinforcement. No instructions, prompts, or models are used during the game to direct the learner. This talk and accompanying exercises will introduce you to PORTL and explain the similarities between PORTL, the Skinner box, and applied animal training.
