Nancy Chwiecko is an Associate Professor of Interior Design in the
School of Design at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY.
She has been teaching since 1989. In 2004-05 RIT awarded her a sabbatical for
research on "Living with Pets: Designing Interior Space with Animals in Mind."
She has presented her ideas on "Designing Homes with Dogs in Mind" to dog groups
and organizations. In 2010, Nancy co-authored the book "There's a Dog in the
House: A Practical Guide for Creating Today's Dog Friendly Home" In addition
to teaching, Nancy maintains an interior design consulting practice.
In 1992
Nancy and her husband Richard Tannen, Professor, School for American Craftsmen
at RIT, designed and built their own home and studio in a rural location near
Rochester. They share their home with two dogs: a Doberman Pinscher, and
Shetland Sheepdog.
Nancy also trains and competes in agility and assists with
classes at Chance of a Lifetime Dog Training.
