Biography/CV
Colleen Pelar, CPDT, CDBC, is the author of Living with Kids and Dogs . . . Without Losing Your Mind (2005) and Kids and Dogs: A Professional’s Guide to Helping Families (2009). Colleen has been training dogs since 1991 and is the co-owner of the largest dog-training facility in Northern Virginia where she oversees group classes, private lessons, and behavior-modification programs. She also serves as an instructor in the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Academy teaching recruits about dogs. Colleen specializes in improving the communication between canine and human family members and really enjoys doing seminars that help dog aficionados bridge the gap between what they know about dogs and what their clientele knows.
